Northport Golf Club

About Us

The Northport Golf club was established in 1916.  It is a classic nine hole, par 36, layout featuring some alternate teeing grounds for eighteen hole rounds.

The course is well-maintained and is walker friendly, featuring short distances from putting green to teeing ground.

The Public is always welcome with a golfer friendly staff available and ready to assist golfers of all skill levels.  There are weekly member tournaments and events which, with advanced notice, can be utilized by non-members.  The golf course is generally open for daily play except Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday late afternoons and Sunday thru mid-day.

Club Professional Peter Hodgkins is a PGA Class 1 Professional, a member of the Maine Golf Hall of Fame and a renown teacher.  He maintains a full service pro-shop and is available for individual and group lessons for both experienced players as well as those who are new to the game.           

Course amentities include a practice rage, a practice putting area and a snack bar.  Motorized carts as well as pull carts (trolleys) area available for use from the pro-shop.

As a member of the Maine and United States Golf Associations, Norhport provides handicaps to members who wish to carry an index.

TOURNAMENTS AND EVENTS

SCOTCH  FOURSOME

This is a mixed event (men and women) which begins on Wednesday evenings at 5:15 pm.  Play is always followed by socialization. Pot luck suppers are held monthly.

TWI-LIGHT LEAGUE

Throughout the season Twi-light league is held on Tuesday afternoons.  Participants generally begin play between 4:00 and 5:30.  Match Play is form of play with all skill levels being equalized with the use of handicaps.

SPECIAL CLUB TOURNAMENTS/EVENTS

These are generally held on Sunday mornings and are concluded by mid-day.  Included in these events are: Pro-Ams, Ryder Cup Tournament (2 person), Member-Member Tournament (2 person better ball), Opening/Closing Scramble, Sayward Scramble, Lothrop Member-Guest Tournament, and the Northport Member Guest (two day)

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

These include the Four Ball (2 person better ball), President's Cup (handicapped), Club Championship, and Senior and Super Seniors Championships (handicapped) and are determined by match play rules and involve multiple elmination rounds of individual play to determine the ultimate champion.  For the convenience of the participants individual matches are scheduled within a two-week period.  There is also the Mixed Championship. 

All tournaments and events utilize handicaps (gross and net) giving all competitors, regardless of skill level, equal opportunity.
